HCC Students Attend Special Screening of ‘HEALING MAGDALENE’

March 16, 2015

More than 120 Houston Community College students attended a special screening of ‘HEALING MAGDALENE,’ followed by a discussion with filmmaker, Donna L. Valverde. The event took place at the main college campus in downtown Houston.

‘HEALING MAGDALENE’ is a film that creates awareness about Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). Although FGM is most prevalent in certain rural communities across Africa, many of us know of someone harmed by this detrimental practice. More than 125 million girls and women alive today have been “cut,” with as many as 2 million suffering through the procedure each year. View the trailer at http://healingmagdalene.org/
