Kenya Girls Encouraged
June 22, 2017
This past week the girls who have turned 18 applied for their National ID’s; they are very excited to be of voting age. They will also need the ID’s when they attend college in August, so this is a good time for them to apply.
Their usual village routine of herding the animals, fetching water, and helping their parents continues. Two girls continue to support in their local schools; we are very proud of them. We talk on a regular basis, and we keep urging them to be patient and not fall into bad company and/or other vices even as they wait to join college. We are working out something for one of the girls, and will give a report next week. She is quite desperate and being an orphan, her brother, who is also struggling in life, is worried about her. She is very well-behaved and he hopes she does not get discouraged because she did not perform well in her exams.
