Kenya Facing Hunger Issues

June 29, 2017

The week has been quiet; we were not able to get to most of the girls during the week and that had us a bit worried. All of the girls’ phones were off. We managed, however, to get one of the girl’s brother this evening and through him, were able to talk to one of the girls. She was fine. She said she had talked to some of the girls during the course of the week, and they are fine, but hunger is starting to bite again. It has not rained in a while and the effects of the dry weather are being felt. All we can hope for is that it will rain soon.

On a positive note, we have been able to get a new home for one of the girls. Her situation had us worried. She sounded sad and desperate the last time we talked. She was losing hope. A relative has offered to stay with her and see her through college, another scholarship need met!

We are grateful for all the people who have come through for these girls, and that’s why we don’t tire of telling their story. They are a privileged lot! We will organize transport, so that she comes next week. It will be so nice to have her in Nairobi and close to us again. We will keep you posted on her progress.
